Cell Discipleship Track By Anthony MacPherson The New Disciples Guide is part of an Adventist equipping or discipleship track. It is designed to disciple people within a Cell Church setting. While one can use the guide as a Bible study series, I would encourage people to familiarise themselves with Cell Church philosophy to understand more fully the holistic context intended for the Guide. In brief, Cell Churches aim to make community, discipleship, witness and leadership development the focus of believers’ lives through the development and multiplication of holistic small groups. This contrasts with the pattern of making weekend church attendance, programs and events, and ministry through committees the focus, as predominantly happens in conventional churches (traditional or contemporary). I believe Cell Church philosophy is one of the best examples of the huge paradigm shift that churches and pastors need to make in order to effectively reach the lost. This Discipleship material, while not perfect, is the result of much prayer, experimentation, discussion, previous success and failure. I would like to thank fellow Pastors Andrew Skeggs, for helpful contributions, suggestions and improvements, and Pastors Steve Goods and John McLean for feedback and testing. The New Disciples Guide is only part of a comprehensive equipping track. The Guides help establish new believers, but in addition to this a church will need to decide how they will train people in witnessing, discovering of spiritual gifts and ministry, cell leaders training etc. Here is a sample track. (Note: The S.H.A.P.E survey mentioned in the Overview is Rick Warren’s survey tool, though we teach some parts differently. Contagious Christianity is produced by Willow Creek. One does not have to use these, there are other alternatives, but they are a good start. The Cell Leader’s Manual we use is one we have compiled ourselves). I have included an overview of an Adventist Equipping Track which outlines the process from initial evangelism to the discipling of leaders. Here is The New Disciples Guide along with other Discipleship Track materials. top Contact Webmaster | |
